Hello, my name is Kelsey Leonard and this is my 8th year teaching English for Tilden High School and my 21st year teaching English/Language Arts. I am a National Board certified teacher and a Reading Specialist. I earned my Bachelor’s degree from Lake Forest College in writing and secondary education. I earned a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership and a second Master’s degree in Literacy instruction; I earned both degrees from Northeastern Illinois University in Chicago. I plan on pursuing a PhD in education in the near future.
I grew up in Los Angeles, California and moved to Chicago for college. I have been living in the city of Chicago for over 22 years. I enjoy restoring old buildings and designing comfortable living spaces through gutting and rehabbing beautiful, old Chicago homes.
I believe all students are intelligent, capable, and equally valuable. I believe in the power of clear, concise communication and that knowledge truly is power. I want all of my students to believe in their own greatness and to achieve all of their dreams, no matter what.
